They asked me where I'm going, I'm just walking, I'm just walking They asked me where I'm going, as I walk around the bend The wind how it is blowing, and I'm walking, I'm just walking To follow without knowing, with the sun behind my back.
It's only me and my shadow, the sound of stones under my feet. My eyes searching for an arrow, perhaps I'll stop at the next town.
I'm unravelling, travelling far. Three weeks and counting, I'm halfway there by now. My body aches, my mind is tired, but I feel I'm not alone. We are carrying out hearts home. On the way to Santiago.
Listen to the church bells ringing, and I'm walking, I'm still walking Some days I feel like singing, and some days I want to cry These decisions that I'm making – all that talking, all that talking, And these patterns that I'm breaking, in the walking they can mend.
On the way to Santiago.”
Journal and reflect on the following -
What does the image of walking without knowing the destination evoke in your own life journey?Have you ever been called to follow something without having all the answers?
What are the “patterns” in your life that need breaking or healing? How might a journey—physical, emotional, or spiritual—help mend them?
What does it mean to “carry your heart home”?Where or what is 'home' for you, and how are you moving toward it?
When in your life have you felt most alone—and yet strangely not alone? What or who accompanied you in that moment?
The pilgrim listens to church bells, sings some days, and cries others. How do you handle the emotional highs and lows on your journey?
What are the signs or “arrows” you look for when you’re unsure where to go next in life? How do you know when to stop, when to keep going, or when to change direction?
How is your physical body connected to your spiritual path? What has your body taught you about endurance, presence, and transformation?

Final Prayer
Loving God, As we walk the winding roads of life—through valleys of uncertainty, across stones that press beneath our feet, and into towns unknown—remind us that we are never alone. Like the pilgrims on the way to Santiago, may each step unravel what no longer serves us and reveal the quiet strength within. When we grow tired, be our rest; when we are lost, be our arrow. Teach us to listen for You in the wind, the silence, and the sound of church bells ringing in our hearts. May we carry our hearts home to You, ever walking, ever trusting, ever becoming. Amen.
